Stanbic Bank Uganda has opened applications for the 11th edition of its National Schools Championship, inviting secondary schools and vocational institutions across the country to participate in the innovation programme designed to nurture entrepreneurship, leadership and practical business skills among young people.
Just weeks after the latest winners returned from an all-expenses-paid trip to South Africa, Stanbic Bank Uganda has officially opened applications for the 11th edition of the Stanbic National Schools Championship, one of the country’s most influential student innovation programmes.
The bank is inviting both private and public secondary schools, as well as vocational institutions across Uganda, to apply and participate in the competition free of charge.
The initiative is designed to nurture innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership among young people, equipping them with the skills needed to become the country’s next generation of change-makers.
Applications are now available through the bank’s official online platforms, and submissions will close on March 19, 2026.
This year’s championship will run under the theme, “Powering Innovation for Job Creation.”
Over the years, the programme has evolved into a national platform that encourages students to develop creative and practical solutions to real economic and social challenges.
Participants benefit from mentorship, practical business training and exposure to industry leaders, helping them transform ideas into viable projects with real-world impact.
The programme has become widely recognized for promoting entrepreneurial thinking among students and inspiring innovative approaches to Uganda’s development challenges.
According to Diana Ondoga, Head of Corporate Social Investment at Stanbic Bank Uganda, the initiative reflects the bank’s broader commitment to national development and youth empowerment.
“This initiative is in line with our purpose; Uganda is our home, we drive her growth. We remain committed to transforming women, youth and farmers through programmes that empower them with the skills and opportunities needed to succeed,” Ondoga said.
Since its launch, the Stanbic National Schools Championship has grown into one of Uganda’s leading youth empowerment platforms, reaching thousands of students across the country.
Through the programme, participants gain entrepreneurial knowledge, leadership skills and practical experience while developing innovative ideas that can address some of the country’s most pressing economic and social challenges.
Schools interested in taking part in the 11th edition are encouraged to submit their applications before the March 19, 2026 deadline to secure a place in this year’s competition.
